rock bottom renaissance

Act I • Visual Art • Live Now • Next movement already in motion

The Work -

A self portrait

The Rise is the first painting in the Against Gravity series. A female silhouette generating enough light to birth a pixelated dream, rising and materializing in real time. Built from acrylic, wood, screw, and ink on a surface alive with real stories lived in New Orleans. The place where this particular rock bottom took shape. Where the rising began.

Among those stories is the collaboration itself. Mona Litza meets Ceaux — a beloved local New Orleans artist whose presence became its own art form. The invitation extended. The space held. The time honored. All of it lives in the surface of this work as much as the screws and the ink do. You cannot see it. You can feel it.

About-

The Artist

Mona Litza is a creative director, producer, and artist based in New Orleans. Fifteen years of building across music production, live programming, and visual art have produced someone who doesn't move between disciplines. She works across all of them simultaneously, to tell stories and build worlds.

Rock Bottom Renaissance is her first fine art collection. Built from a real rock bottom with real materials: acrylic, wood, screw, and ink. It is the first act of a universe currently unfolding, to be revealed in phases, already in motion, not yet announced.

This is the first world she has made visible. It will not be the last.

“By the time you understand where you are, you’re already inside the story — and it belongs to you now.

Four ways to enter the work.

The Living Story Wall…

  • “My rise been looking like finding that strength to say 'I'm at capacity', then gently passing them to somebody who got it. I'm done draining myself tryna earn respect by carrying too much. Now I'm protecting my peace and it hits different."

    —Trinity

  • “My rise against gravity began with learning how to make a real friend again — and taking the time to be one — after healing from deep betrayal trauma.”

    —Trey

  • “My rise against gravity began the day I chose to stick to my vision and start my own business, even when everyone around me swore I would fail.”

    —Mike

  • “My rise against gravity started the moment I chose to walk toward where the love was, instead of staying in a relationship that had become more doubt than connection.”

    —Abby

  • “My rise against gravity feels like getting a tattoo. No description from anyone else can prepare you for what it will actually feel like… for you.” 😩

    —Meagan

The Process

Four will be made.
No two are the same.

Each commissioned variation of The Rise is built through the specific interior landscape of the person who receives it. Their story of return. Their isms. Their rise.

The origin painting is V.01. Each variation is a unique original. When V.05 is complete, this series closes permanently.

Commissioning a variation is not buying a reproduction. It is completing the work.

  • V. 02 | Acquired | In Production

  • V. 03 | Open | Your story becomes the work.

  • V. 04 | Open | Your story becomes the work.

  • V. 05 | Open | Your story becomes the work.

Begin the Conversation

Commissioning a variation means beginning a conversation about your story. What your rock bottom looked like. What the rise required. What gravity you were working against.

That conversation becomes the work.

"I'm pretty intentional about who I connect with. So talk to me, love. What brought you here?"
